Unity in Community

There is No EAD Without You

UIC 21 Horse Race.jpg

In 2021, a fire ravaged the farm, taking our stables, storage barn, community center, irreplaceable memorabilia, hay for the horses, and more. In our hours of despair and need, you rallied around us. You brought us hay, shovels, horse treats, photos from past events, countless resources, and immeasurable support to get us through that difficult time.

Several months after the fire, EAD's Executive Director, Deb VanderBand, sat with several volunteers as she recounted how the community had rallied around EAD and proved how much these horses had touched the community.

Sitting in a hodgepodge of chairs with a farm dog at their feet and horses munching in the background, a determined group of women found a way to thank the community for their support and show everyone how much EAD appreciated not only their efforts and actions but them. It was on that sunny afternoon, underneath the protective boughs of the trees,

that Unity in Community was born.

The Event

This event is about the community! EAD knows it cannot exist without the support of the Greater Grand Rapids Community. Every year, we are humbled by your support of this

farm in the city.

We are here for you because of you.

Every September, we celebrate community and fellowship with a family-friendly event that includes food, games, prizes, information on EAD and its services, horse encounters, crafts, activities, demonstrations, various members of the community, and more!

Raffles, auctions, donations, and more supports EAD and its programs.
